If someone you care about is unable to manage their own money — due to a serious illness, brain injury, dementia, or learning disability — The Friendly Trust can act as their Court of Protection Deputy.
We’re here to make sure their finances are safe, well-managed, and used in their best interests.
What Is a
Deputy?
A Deputy is appointed by the Court of Protection to make financial decisions for someone who lacks the mental capacity to do so themselves. The Friendly Trust can take on this role when there’s no one else suitable or available.
What We Can Do as Deputy
As a Court-appointed Deputy, we will:
Open a bank account to receive income and benefits
Make sure bills are paid and money is used appropriately
Keep detailed records and submit reports to the Office of the Public Guardian
Visit the person regularly to check they are well cared for
Make financial decisions that are in their best interests
We work closely with families, carers, and professionals to make sure the person’s needs are met and their rights respected.
At The Friendly Trust, we help vulnerable people manage their money, protect their finances, and plan for the future. Every donation helps us reach more people and provide the personalised support they need to live independently and with dignity.
